Birding in Costa Rica with Italian paisano

Birding in Costa Rica with Italian paisano, a fun experience even if the weather was against us. The first week of December we had a sudden light tropical storm in Caño Negro for a few days.

Beside the wheater, we could catch 2 clear afternoons with an amazing sunset.

A beautiful 2 days birding, even with some rain.

Over the 2 days, the birding list comes up to 70+ species. On the birding list, we do not include all the very very common birds you can find around, like the passerinitodyblue and grey tanager.

As soon as Alessandro arrives with Renzo (our Italian friend for birdwatching in Monteverde), they decide to take the 1st afternoon 3 hrs birding trip. This first trip we cover more than 11 km by boat, with a birding list of dozen of species

The second day, we start the day with a very raft rainy morning. The afternoon much much better. Even so, we went to discover some unusual places in the lagoon of Caño Negro, that normally you can visit by boat only when the water level is very high. During the dry season, you can walk to those places, but are very far, about 10 km walking just to arrive there.

The afternoon we took off again after a good lunch and very heavy rain. The afternoon gets perfect. No rain, no hot weather. Birds coming on the river to feed. This afternoon we fishing the day enjoy the sunset up to the dusk, just in front a beautiful tree full of any kind of heron and egret.

But the adventure did not finish there. After dinner, around 7:30 pm, we went out for a night tour.
